Semantic Entropy measures something specific: how focused is the current pitch, deck, and public messaging around one coherent story, versus how scattered it is across loosely related themes that read like they were bolted on separately.
Some scatter is normal in an early pitch that's still finding its shape. High entropy that persists — a company simultaneously describing itself as an AI infrastructure company, a marketplace, and a fintech play, with no clear throughline connecting the three — is a different pattern, and often a proxy for a team that hasn't yet forced itself to choose.
Investors often feel this factor intuitively while reading a deck ("I'm not sure what this company actually is") without having language for it. Naming it explicitly turns a vague unease into a specific, discussable observation.
